| We are Ida, the all-purpose queer arts community tucked away on 250 acres of nature-iffic loveliness in the backwoods of Tennessee. We are an ever-changing arrangement of wimmin, men, trannies and kids trying to live an alternative to consumerist, corporate-controlled spirit-numbing culture. We grow lots of vegetables, build fancy outhouses, play music, dance in caves, produce plays, agitate, bitch, kvetch, hike, and sing. We go to Dairy Queen in tattered dresses. We don't cook animals in our kitchen. We're thankful for our sweet gushing spring, crashing waterfalls, and wild animals. We're hell on heels wielding chain saws for firewood. We have dozens of queer neighbors within biking distance. We are your cross-dressing, bread-baking sissy monks. We produce an annual queer music festival called Idapalooza Fruit Jam, in late September. We welcome visitors and are open to new members. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |
