Angsviksgarden (Ängsviksgården)
Värmdö,
Sweden
No ideology, no politics, no ideas; we are a modern, nonpolitical community house in the Stockholm archipelago. The only reason for us to live in community housing is to make life easier and more fun. We have 14 apartments and 50 inhabitants (20 adults and 30 children). Once we had 15 chickens...but they are sold. We have two vegetarians (we could not sell them…); the rest of us are happy to eat meat and drive non-environmental cars. No, to be honest, we do think it’s important to try to live our lives with respect for the environment.
We eat shared meals every "school day" at 17:45 and we have a common responsibility for the house and the garden.
The house was originally built in 1905 by the city of Varmdo to house elderly and poor people. In 1986 it was rebuilt into modern two- to five-room apartments.
We are 40 kilometers from Stockholm city and most of us work in the city.
Anyone visiting Stockholm is of course welcome to visit us. To be sure that someone is home, please send us an email before you arrive.
