Indiana Self-Sufficiency
Indiana,
United States
(Central IN, north of Indianapolis)
The recent disasters in our Gulf Coast region have demonstrated that it is necessary to be self-sufficient. Those who rely on government agencies are at the mercy of our wonderfully efficient federal employees.
Additionally, the realities of our current geopolitical situation make terrorism by extremists a continuing possibility. Again, though this endangers everyone, the self-sufficient will fare best.
The economy is another concern. Supplying much of one's own food and entering into a supportive compact will provide some security.
I'm seeking 6 to 20 people with varying skills to join together, purchase land in north-central Indiana, and purchase a home or trailers, or some combination thereof, and live in a self-sufficient manner, raising or growing much of our own food. This isn't really a commune, per se. Each member will be encouraged to have outside employment. We will have bills to pay.
We will need people with various skills. We will work on acquiring or improving these skills as we go. These skills include hunting and fishing; HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry; vehicle repair; computer maintenance; cooking and canning; gardening; general handyman work; medical and dental skills; brewing and distilling; livestock and animal husbandry; gunsmithing and reloading; ham radio operator; and general survival skills
I'm sure there are things I haven't thought of. If you don't have these skills but are willing to learn, have a steady job, and can work and play well with others, we can likely use you, too.
To communicate directly with other members, please join the recently started email discussion list at the website listed above.
This is not a socialist, humanist, or "green" community.
