We are a small, family style, egalitarian, intentional permaculture community. Staying with us is a vibrant immersion in our community lifestyle, and many visitors find it transformative and life changing. We are a group of people working together closely as a means to health, relationship vitality, economic stability, personal and spiritual growth. We specialize in the social aspect of sustainability: how to live together with honesty, love and peace, and share power and leadership.
We live on the Big Island of Hawaii, at 1200' elevation. Our land is blessed with lots of sun and rain and has native ohia forest, orchards, ponds, and a magical cinder cone.
We eat a diet of organic, fresh, wholesome food, much of which we produce on our land, and encourage individuals to listen to their bodies and follow a diet that feels good and promotes health. We can accommodate many different diets and allow for personal diet choices to change over time.
We are living together out of choice and from joy, not from scarcity, fear, or ideology. We place a high value on people who are dedicated to working on themselves and who welcome community support and feedback as part of their growth or healing process.
We embrace processes that bring us into unity while respecting each person's autonomy. We support egalitarian relationships and practice consensus decision-making. We bring awareness to the various roles we play in regard to gender, economic class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and age. We aspire to shift out of oppressor and oppressed roles.
We value relationships and sexuality as an important part of individuals' lives, and a powerful energy that nourishes oneself & our community. We do not elevate one sexual relationship model over another but emphasize healthy, positive, mutually empowered relating.
We live off the grid & get our electricity from the sun, & our water from the sky. Members buy or build simple personal dwellings. Meals are prepared & eaten in a community kitchen. We value sustainable practices & locally grown food. We operate from a permaculture knowledge base and offer internships 3 x a year, & work trade year round.
We hope to expand to between 12-20 members & are open to making full membership possible to anyone who shares our values & works well with us. We typically require a six-month trial membership and have a monetary buy-in for those accepted as members.
Enjoy our videos of interviews with our members and past interns.
