| (Note: The community has not been started up but that may change soon. I will try to reach those who contact me...Feb. 15, 2011.)
This community has only one goal, to live from the land and to sever its ties from the system to the fullest extent possible. There are no paths to follow, no community mindset to adhere to, no programs of any kind except that which will enable us to live from the land and be as self-sufficient as possible. At the same time, there are no restrictions on practicing whatever belief system is dear to you. Members can have gatherings of their individual liking as long as they do not interfere with the operation of the farm or infringe on any member’s right to privacy. We hope that you have an interest in earth-based spirituality, but it is not at all required.
In this regard, Land Lifeways Farm hopes that if one learns to survive directly from the earth, then it is likely one will also learn to know the earth. This, in a nutshell, is what the desired result will be for each member. By creating an absolute life-dependence on the earth, one can form a relationship out of need rather than ego. Once that relationship has taken hold, the meaning of this community becomes self-explanatory.
Drugs and alcohol are prohibited on the property, but off the land no one will judge you. Work is the word here. Work hard and eat well. Farming is the main source of food, via crops and livestock. Hunting and gathering are also practiced but not mandatory for those who oppose them. Status: in transition, not open | |
