Meridiana
Kumlinge,
Åland Islands
It all began when the initiators, Kora and Thorsten, started their life's experiment in 2003. They weighed anchor from their previous life of commercial activity in Germany, and from all limitations that included.
After sailing the Baltic Sea in their old wooden boat for a summer, they landed on the Åland islands. Here they started to turn a different kind of life into reality. They were freed from constraints and distress, and found themselves in quiet and "creative simplicity," close to nature.
The idea grew to associate with other freethinking people and to found an ecological society. Contact with new inspiring sources extended and completed the concept. In the heart of the archipelago, we want to create a meeting place for joy, health, interchange, and the development of consciousness!
Our aim is to give living in the archipelago a new perspective, to inspire visitors, and to attract more people to settle down here. This includes four steps: to found an open, ecological community; to run a seminar center; to give priority to local resources; and to build local, global, and intercultural networks.
MERIDIANA is an ideologically, politically, and economically independent project.
We warmly welcome everyone who wants to join and support the project. We wish to become a community with a broad variety of ages, backgrounds, knowledge, and experiences.
