Laughing Dog Farm/CSA
Gill, Massachusetts,
United States
interns, neighbors and friends...
Laughing Dog Farm is a small acreage, permaculture-based homestead and market garden situated on an historic hilltop that was once part of a famous western Massachusetts commune. Our nine acre oasis, surrounded by fields and natural woodlands, is comprised of two acres of raised beds, several dozens of fruit trees, berries, dairy goats, and a 65' greenhouse, all managed by traditional, labor-intensive methods.
We see education and mentoring as key elements of our mission. Live-in, seasonal interns have been a good fit here and for five summers, we’ve been fortunate to find a steady flow. We are also actively seeking serious, longer-term comrades/co "owners" who're passionate about sustainable agriculture, food activism, and community, and who're savvy and flexible enough to navigate the sobering challenges of group process.
We have a large, versatile home to retrofit and share, as well as ample resources, tools, and ideas for building a long-term, sustainable, family-oriented micro-community. We are a middle-aged couple, (teacher, counselor, athlete, body worker, singer...) with a precocious nine year old. We seek a serious-minded, committed individual, couple, or small family to join our venture, with the possibility of eventual business partnership, and/or co-ownership, or land trust establishment.
Our long-term vision includes forging a sustainable home economy, while supporting the surrounding community through a food literacy and garden mentoring program. We are especially interested in heirloom varieties and we practice seed saving for our own gardens and to market.
I am also very interested in collaborating on a resource exchange with other homeschooling families. We have run successful educational programs for children and seek to do more in the future.

Good Day!
This is the real deal. LDF has a cadre of dedicated folk who walk the walk as well as talk it. There is a commitment to deep ecology, community collaboration, permaculture, living lightly on the land and all the catch phrases we know well, but beyond that your involvement, at what ever level encountered, will feel the love evident...
The real kicker is it's a beautiful community with a long history.

Beautiful folks have a serious commitment to: heart centered relationship, sustainable agriculture, nurturing their 'exploring members', and co-created community. They have a good connection to the wider community. I know them as living their principals. Lots of useable skills and willingness to share. Contact me with feedback with LDG approval if needed.
Your Bro',
Chad
