NotBarter.com The Los Angeles Skills Pool
Los Angeles, California,
United States
(Residence in Los Angeles—or the U.S.—is not required.)
Since 1975 NotBarter.com has given participants unlimited access to hundreds of valuable services of all kinds, supplied by the members to one another at no charge.
Services are freely shared--not traded. Each member commits to provide service upon request, up to the weekly maximum she or he stipulated upon joining. There's no maximum applying to services used.
Members offer the full gamut of services: professional, technical, creative, instructional, domestic, and blue-collar. Anything useful is welcome, as long as it's offered without charge of any kind. (Out-of-pocket expenses, if any, are paid by the receiving member.)
Although we operate primarily in Southern California, we have members as far away as the British West Indies. Non-local members share services via email, phone, fax, and snail mail.
Internet access is required. There are discounts for students, for the temporarily unemployed, and for groups.

One good thing about this community is that everybody gives according to their availability, with no limitations on tit-for-tat barter. In other words, rather than exchanging "points", you simply donate as much of your capabilities as your comfort level allows you to. This keeps the community much more congenial. And, it works, too!!!

I have been a member of Beyond Barter for several years. I accidentally discovered it while browsing the internet. I took a "chance" in joining to "try it out" and have already renewed my membership twice.

I have received useful help from Beyond Barter members which have ranged from assistance with assembling a large DVD/CD turn style/rack, to the services of a personal trainer. I also enjoy the informational emails about various programs, websites, tips, etc...to make life easier.

I highly recommend membership to Beyond Barter, The Los Angeles Skills Pool.

Recently, I was able to help someone who truly needed my services through Beyond Barter. If you have a special skill or ability, Beyond Barter gives you the opportunity to express it. My experience with helping this person was most rewarding.

I'm a life member. I love the concept of sharing freely without any need to balance services given with services received. It really does go "Beyond Barter." There are lots of great services.
