This group is for persons interested in the formation of an underwater ecovillage. Technology has finally developed where underwater habitats are both possible and economicly feasable. Persons interested in either becoming a member of the ecovillage, or donating should post to the group. More information about the specifics of the habitat are available on request.

I have done research on the costs of materials involved in the

construction of the domes. The site that is a reference link will

Monolithic.com specializes in construction of dome type housing, and has many characteristics of interest to the ecological minded person, such as energy efficiency, natural building materials, and ease of construction.

The purpose of the ecovillage is to allow

study of oceanic life, and aquaculture. The environments can be

sealed, but will probably have air supplied from the surface at

first. Air pressure keeps the water out at entrances, along with

some seals that have been developed.

I am posting this here, because I would like to hear ideas and discussion of starting an ecovillage, and am opening membership in the actual ecovillage. The actual ecovillage will begin construction when we have enough members and funds to begin construction.

It is an intentional community of persons who care about preserving our environment, especially marine life.

Visitors Accepted

(A few domes will be available to visiting researchers and dignitaries from interested countries. When enough domes are constructed, we will open up to limited tourism to educate the public on Oceanic ecology and preservation of Marine life.)

Visitor Process: When formation is complete, they should contact us by phone or snail mail. The contact should include time and date desired to visit, purpose of visit, and estimated time that they would like to stay. Also they should include any special requirements they may have such as medical needs or disabilities.

Population Adult Members: (open) Child Members: (open) Non-member Residents: (site visitors to be discussed after formation) Open to new adults: Yes Open to new children: Yes	Government Decision Making: Other (The community is governed by a constitution that protects certain basic rights and responsibilities of the citizens; the ruler holds a position of hereditary monarch, and makes final decisions, but is advised by a council elected by the people.) Identified Leader: Yes Leadership Core Group: No	Labor and Money Financial Style: Other (Members will share costs and benefits to start the community, but later will have independent resources except for that needed to maintain the community needs such as group projects.) Labor Contribution: (If a person has skills that can be used for building or other community needs, they are encouraged, but not required to donate time to the community.) Join Fee: Yes (Members will need to have a percentage of the costs of building their new dome.) Regular Fees: Yes (Any fees collected are to go towards community needs/group projects. This fee will be a flat percentage of income, decided by the council and community leader.)

Social Factors Open to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender members: No (Persons of various orientations are generally accepted; what someone does in the privacy of their own home is up to them, as long as no one's rights are violated.) Shared Spiritual Path: No Which Spiritual Path(s): Ecumenical (includes "all religions") (Open to all religions, as long as they honor other's right to have their own beliefs. Earth centered religions will find this a friendly environment.) Educational Style(s): Other (The community will eventually have a public school, otherwise the children will be home schooled.)
