Sunset House, Seattle
Sunset House is an intentional community that is affiliated with the Evergreen Land Trust. We live in a 6-bedroom, purple house in the Central District of Seattle near a food co-op and Seattle University. We are six socially conscious musicians, students, activists, organizers, and non-profit workers living out progressive, engaged, and enthusiastic lives. We share a commitment to positive social change, keeping our home beautiful, and cooperative living.
House Perks: Lots of common space, view of city skyline and Olympic Mountains, affordable living, shared food system, shared responsibility for house upkeep, large back deck and front porch, veggie/queer/trans/vegan friendly, and large garden spaces.
Principles of Sunset House: To steward our house responsibly, keeping it beautiful, safe, and well-maintained. To build strong relations with each other, formally, and informally. To cultivate an intentional community of mutual aid, generosity, and laughter. To create a household that feels alive, full, active, and welcoming, strengthening the web of family, friends, and extended community. To support environmental and social change by practicing what we preach, encouraging each other in this work, and supporting other groups in these efforts.
Evergreen Land Trust's Mission: Take land and housing out of the marketplace to promote community development in harmony with the environment.
