| Our goal is a symbiosis of village, farm, and forest for up to 2,500 people on 1,200 acres--a whole valley on the north shore of Dorena Lake, near Eugene, Oregon. Homes, businesses, and community facilities are being clustered in and near a pedestrian solar village, preserving over 1,000 acres of forest and meadow.
We're planning a self-supporting settlement, with organic agriculture, sustainable forestry, and a variety of small businesses on site. While homes and businesses are privately owned, all residents are members of the nonprofit Cerro Gordo Cooperative, which owns community land and utilities and facilitates democratic self-government. We're seeking to create a life-enhancing community that reintegrates the human community and our inner selves with the larger community of the biosphere. We invite you to join our extended community of residents, future residents, and supporters who are working together to create Cerro Gordo as a prototype symbiotic community and to network with ecovillage and eco-city projects worldwide. For more information, contact the Cerro Gordo Forum. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |
