Centre for Alternative Technology - CAT
Powys, Wales,
United Kingdom
Cymuned y Chwarel is a group who practices and experiments with new ways of zero-carbon living.Their communal activities include building sustainable buildings using the most up-to-date ecological building techniques, renovating, insulating, and installing solar water and other ecological energy saving technologies on slate cottages and the newer eco-build houses. Other activities include buying, preparing, and eating food together and enjoying each other's company.
We all work at the Centre for Alternative Technology (which is where we live), an environmental education centre focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative sewage systems, environmental building, and organic growing. The centre and our houses are powered by renewable energy and have their own water supply and sewage systems.
