The community of the Cedar Hollow Community, the Center for Ecological Design and Restoration (CEDAR), resides in a permaculture demonstration site and homestead. Established in 1983, CEDAR--part of a 43-acre land trust--emphasizes education and attunement by example of simple living, land restoration, and sustainable agricultural practices. Community members live off the grid and carry water by choice and creatively explore ways to heal themselves and the land.
