| Dreamtime Village (DTV) is emerging as an experiment in ecovillage design whose mission is to create new planetary culture. By consciously drawing from the more biodiverse and imaginative resources of present-day and ancient cultures, we garden the complex interface between plant, animal, and human worlds. Our challenge is to design a landscape that is functional, alive, and phantasmagorical while simultaneously serving as an ecovillage demonstration and a hands-on learning environment for people of all ages. We delight in discovery, innovation, and experimentation.
We lean toward open systems and self-organization, allowing the ecovillage to grow as an organism. A diversity of DTV residents and visitors tends to create an eclectic mix; folks are drawn here through a broad variety of channels. Studios, woods, wetlands, gardens, orchards, a huge 1920 brick school building, five other buildings, and 80 acres of land form the facility for DTV workshops, gatherings, retreats, and more. Our focus is on permaculture and "hypermedia" (a term we use to expand on common notions of "art" and "media"). Dreamtimers past or present have been involved in pottery, yoga, musical improvisation and instrument making, woodturning, gourds, herbs, computers, natural building, bookmaking, etc. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |

We ask for a donation of $8 per night, which helps with our expenses (but we don't turn people away for lack of funds.) Bring some food, a sleeping bag, a phone card and an open mind. Please write, call or email ahead of time. We discourage people arriving unannounced, so it's better for us if you can schedule your visits ahead of time. If you're interested in coming, please email us for directions. We encourage you to help out with Dreamtime projects every day while you're here. |
