Hospital Comunitario Waldos
Sangolqui,
Ecuador
Waldos is a medical clinic based on communitarian principles established in 1996 in Sangolqui, a green, fertile valley outside of Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. It is run by Americans and Ecuadorians. Our inspiration comes from Walden Two (Walden-dos hence Waldos). We are not currently living in community but have embodied community and egalitarian principles into what we do. Our focus is providing good quality medical services to underserved populations. We have our own facility with Xray, CT scanner and ultrasound, ER and other capabilities. We do welcome visitors but ask to please contact us first. Profesionals in the healthcare field are of course very welcome but there are many activities at Waldos not requiring healthcare training. We would be especially interested in hosting persons who can help us grow in the areas of consensus decision making and implementing community principles. Where we live in Ecuador is quite safe and we have developed a considerable local resources 'net' over >20 years. Foreigners are well accepted locally and anyone coming in a visitor-working capacity would be experiencing total inmersion in latin culture. Our email is lance@waldos.org.ec and phone contact is 011-5932-2-331966. Contact person Dr. Lance Evans.
