The Himalayan Institute is located on a beautiful, 400-acre campus near the town of Honesdale in northeastern Pennsylvania. Its rural setting in the wooded, rolling hills of the Pocono Mountains provides a wonderfully peaceful and healthy setting in which to relax and discover the best of yourself.
Founded in 1971 as a nonprofit organization, our purpose is to help people grow physically, mentally, and spiritually by combining the best knowledge of both the East and the West.
Throughout the year, we offer a variety of programs in Hatha yoga, meditation, yoga philosophy, psychology, holistic health, and other subjects. From weekend meditation retreats and seminars on spirituality to our month-long Self Transformation program and even longer residential programs, we attempt to provide an environment to foster gentle, inner progress.
Hatha yoga teachers’ training is available through the Himalayan Institute Teachers Association. Holistic health services, Ayurvedic rejuvenation programs, and pancha karma are offered through our Total Health Center.
The Institute also publishes numerous books and media as well as the award-winning quarterly magazine, “Yoga International.”
The Honesdale site serves as the organization’s headquarters. Institute programs are also offered at branch and affiliated centers throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
Membership in the Institute helps support its programs and offers members valuable benefits.
