Rowe Camp & Conference Center
Rowe, Massachusetts,
United States
Rowe Camp and Conference Center is located in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts, three miles from Vermont. Since 1924 we have run a small creative summer camp for teenagers. In 1974, our conference center was founded. We offer weekends and weeklong retreats for adults and families on a wide variety of topics including spirituality, religion, social activism, psychology, creativity, and health.
Our work-study program is a chance for people who want to slow down, take stock, explore new directions, engage in creative and meaningful work, and be a part of a value-based, supportive community. Work-study participants work 33 hours a week in exchange for room, board, and the opportunity to participate in many of our programs.
The stay lasts anywhere from six weeks to a year, and work is arranged by matching your skills and preferences with Rowe's needs, which may include housekeeping, maintaining our buildings and grounds, office work, and more. Our cooking internship is an opportunity to learn vegetarian cooking and bread baking from our wonderful cooks.
The study portion is self-directed and includes personal study, group work, attendance at conferences, individual meetings with a mentor, the experience of living in community, and the opportunity to practice new skills.
Rowe Camp and Conference Center balances a respect for the integrity and freedom of each person with the needs of the community and the organization. We are dedicated to fostering a new society that can nurture the best in each of us, reward idealism and caring, and expand hope and vision.
