| We have been in the mountains of western North Carolina since 1989. Union Acres is one hour west of Asheville on 80 acres, with views and streams, 24 residential lots and seven acres of common land. Our community is based on Earth stewardship with consensus decision making and community service. Our stated purpose is to live as neighbors in peace and ecological balance with respect to one another and all life. Our members are diverse in backgrounds, ages, occupations, and interests. We have a wonderful new community building and a garden, picnic shelter, and seasonal pool in our meadow.
Eclectic spirituality is accepted and expressed. We have approximately 28 adults and 16 children. Interests and activities include a food co-op, gardening, potlucks, and homesteading. Some members horseback ride, kayak, canoe, hike, Peace Dance, contradance, and meditate.
Other members have plans to develop a nearby retreat center as well as a cohousing group within our community for seniors. A wonderful, creative charter school has opened nearby for grades K-8th!
Visitors must email and/or call before coming. There is one three-bedroom, three-bath home with a four-acre lot for sale now. If interested, contact us. Information packets are $7. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |
