| At Abundance Ecovillage we use permaculture design principles: water from rain, electricity from solar and wind (grid-independent), solar hot water, "living machine" vertical flow wetland sewage system, year-round food production, designing for people rather than cars. We model the look and feel of our project on Michael Corbett's Village Homes. The project will eventually house around 30 families--21 single-family homes and another 10 families in multi-family housing.
Fall 2005 project status: three homes occupied, one under construction, and two more begin construction in spring 2006. Homes range in size from 3600 sq ft to 600 sq feet. Ten lots have been sold. We have a CSA farm, 3,000 sq ft of greenhouse, and have had solar and wind systems up and running for four years.
